“The Harvey Rabbit and Friends Show” will be appearing at the Red River Parish Library
On Monday, June 29th @ 2:00 as part of the Summer Reading Program.
It features Harvey Rabbit, Cecil the Orangutan, and T-Boy the Alligator with
Laura and Tim Allured in a fun-filled, energetic show of ventriloquism, puppetry,
music, magic, comedy, and audience participation.
Laura and Tim, formerly of Lake Charles and now of Lafayette, La., have toured
Elementary schools throughout Louisiana, southeast Texas, and in Mississippi in their
own entertaining, educational school programs since 1986. Also, they have been
familiar faces at libraries throughout Louisiana as guest performers for the Summer
Reading Program since 1991. They have hosted a Lake Charles cable TV show called
The Harvey Rabbit Cartoon Hour and have produced five Harvey Rabbit videos.
Their fourth video, A Golden Rule School, was a Parenting Pick in the
October 2001 issue of PARENTING Magazine.
The Allureds are 1983 graduates of McNeese State University in vocal music
education. In 1985, Laura won first place in the Senior Ventriloquist Contest at the
International Ventriloquist Convention. Laura and Tim have been headline entertainers
with Carnival Cruise Lines out Miami, Fl., and on the Mississippi Queen of the Delta
Queen Steamboat Company. Video clips of their act have been shown on ABC’s
America’s Funniest People, Good Morning America, and World News Tonight.
